CELEBRATION AND REUNION SHOW ~ October 12 - 13
The mission and purpose of the Dayton Artistry in Wood Show since its first show in 1981 and through its 38th and final show is to plan and host the best show possible to showcase the art in wood by the very best exhibitors and vendors. The heart and soul of each show are the participants who also share the goal of showcasing creative art in woodcarving and woodworking as well as promote and encourage the advancement of these endeavors. While making a profit was not the motivation, yet any excess over expenses was saved for future shows and unexpected increases in expenses. Making significant contributions to United Rehabilitation Services and Partners Against Crime has always been an outreach of AIW. When expenses exceeded any income, the reserve savings were used to meet the charity commitment as well as absorb rising costs of venue and other rental fees rather than raise the cost of admission to visitors. Visitors are also one of the main reasons for hosting the best show possible completing the Exhibitor, Vendor and Visitor Trilogy for whom the show has been designed.
In CELEBRATION of 38 years of the Artistry in Wood Show and in APPRECIATION to exhibitors and competitors of the show, this Final show will increase prize money in Categories to also include the addition of Third Category Ribbon winners and First, Second and Third in Class Ribbons winners in Woodcarving and only First place in Woodworking. This will be an increase of more than twice the regular prize money offered.
Artistry in Wood will continue to host all the noted features that have made the show outstanding these 38 years. Approximately 200 exhibitors and vendors will present the best feature of the show. Also, the Western Ohio Woodworkers will host their very popular Children's Hands on Projects while Woodcarving Illustrated will host a variety of demonstration presentations by notable experts. There will continue to be the other features of a Silent Auction, Raffle, Ornament Carving Contest, Competition with added prizes, Magazine Exchange, Banquet and Surprises. The Special Display will be a replica of the Wright Brothers B Flyer.
The Dayton Artistry in Wood Show takes great pride in planning and providing for the best show possible each year both for the exhibitors to show and sell their art and vendors' wares and for visitors to experience an awe-inspiring show. But even more than having a good show, the best part is being able to donate $5000 to United Rehabilitation Services and $750 to Partners Against Crime as the charities of choice each year total donations of $152,000.00.
Roberts Centre, located at Exit 50 of Interstate 71 and state route 68, provides plenty of free parking, food concessions during both days of the show as well as restaurant Max and Erma on site along with the Holiday Inn available for lodging.
┬áThe 2019 Artistry in Wood show is cutting no corners in presenting the best show possible to be a lasting memory of the distinguished history and contributions to woodcarving and woodworking since 1981. Join us in making this a memorable event at the end of the journey of Artistry in Wood and at its best.
